Forget the Former Things

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:18-20

Every new day is a gift. We should also understand that each new day is a new beginning. Whatever happened yesterday is considered to be the past already. The Bible says that we are not to dwell in the past. Whatever happened yesterday is not to be brought into a new day. However, we tend to do it. Oftentimes we live in the past. We dwell in the past and by doing so, we miss the beauty of a new day, a new beginning.

How about we start waking up each morning and think of the things to be grateful for. Our God created this new day for us to live in gladly and joyfully. Start counting your blessings. Each one of us, no matter what, are blessed with something. Let’s not overlook it. Count your blessings and be thankful for them.

Remember that every day God is making a new thing in the universe, on earth and in your life. It may not be visible right now. But overtime when this new thing sprouts, you will realize that it had already been growing when you could not perceive it. God says “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” In order to perceive this new thing that is coming, even if we still don’t see it, the first thing you should do is to make sure that you stop dwelling in the past. When our minds are in the former things, it’s hard to perceive something new, something beautiful. And God is making something beautiful in your life right this moment.

Our God is an amazing God. If He can make streams flow in the wasteland, He can definitely bring a new and beautiful thing in your life as well. Nothing is too hard for Him. You just need to have faith!

Sometimes we may think there is no hope for us. Well, God says there is. Trust God. He never lies. There is always a hope. God has the plans for you. His plans for you are to prosper you, and give you hope and a future.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
— Jeremiah 29:11

To receive this future, you should put your trust onto the Lord. Sometimes we get so impatient when we don’t see the prosperous future God promised. And so, we decide to take reins in our own hands and make some hasty decisions, which oftentimes leads to mistakes which create a bunch of new past and former things for us to overcome and avoid dwelling on.

Please save time for yourself and God. Be patient. God is working on your life. Just have faith, perceive it and you will see what a majestic thing He is preparing for you. Only God knows what is the best for you. You may not know it right now. But He does.

Have faith. Trust the Lord today.

May His name be glorified forever and ever.

 Amen.

Live and Rejoice.
