Like a Palm Tree
Have you ever observed palm trees during stormy weather?
Palm trees have a flexible trunk that allows them to bend as low to the ground as possible without getting broken during the storm. And when everything quiets down and the sun peeks from behind the clouds, the palm trees get straight back up without any effort and stand triumphantly as if they had never gone through the severe storm.
This is the power that God equipped us with as well, to withstand any type of storm in our lives.
The Scripture says,
“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree.”
Palm trees are strong and have a great endurance. So do we. When we are weak, then we are strong (2 Corinthians 12:10) is true because when we submit to our circumstances and admit that we have no power to withstand the difficulties that are raging in our lives at the moment, then the power of Christ starts working through us, giving us strength and endurance.
If you are in the midst of the challenging situation in your life, submit yourself to God. Just like a palm tree allows the wind lower itself to the ground, so you also humble yourself. Let the winds pass. They will. Everything comes to the end. God will preserve you as He preserves the palm trees. Once the storm is over, He will also lift you back up, righteous and strong. You will be even stronger that you used to be. No one will be able to say, when they look at you, that you went through the raging storm.
One of the sisters in Christ, a friend of mine, was diagnosed with cancer last January. Several months of radiation treatment was assigned to her. From the strong and active lady, she became weak and weary. Not able to walk much and not having enough strength even to eat. She humbled herself to the circumstances, never questioned God and never complained. She just went with the storm, day in and day out, doing the best she could and God always gave her enough strength to live one day at a time. As months of the therapy past and were over, she received the amazing news of having beaten the cancer. Praise the Lord! Couple more months past and she started gaining more and more strength. The healing process was going well.
She is like that palm tree. She submitted herself into the hands of the Lord and let the sickness rage its course. God preserved her for her obedience. And lifted her back up like a victorious palm tree, beating the illness and getting back to the beauty of her life.
If you look at her today, you would never be able to say that just a couple of months ago she was undergoing cancer treatment. She looks so fresh, like a spring flower. Praise the Lord; the name of the Lord is to be praised from the rising of the sun to its setting, in the middle of the night and at every breath that we take. Thank you for your love, Heavenly Father.
Amen.
Live and Rejoice.
